About the Class - 
Sculpture Explorers: A Week of 3D Creativity

For Students Entering Grades 4 - 8

In this hands-on sculpture class, young artists will dive into the exciting world of three-dimensional art! Throughout the week, students will experiment with a variety of sculptural materials, including clay, wire, cardboard, and found objects. Each day will be a new adventure in building, shaping, and exploring different textures and techniques. While the focus will be on playful experimentation and discovery, students will also work towards creating a final sculpture to take home at the end of the week. Along with their completed piece, they’ll bring home a collection of smaller exploratory works—mini sculptures, test pieces, and creative experiments—showcasing the journey of their artistic process. This class encourages curiosity, problem-solving, and creative thinking, making it perfect for young artists who love to build, mold, and create!

About the Instructor

Jayme Wiertzema is an art teacher at Explorer Elementary with 10 years of experience in art education. Passionate about visual arts and creativity, she focuses on exploratory art processes for all ages. Jayme strives to make art accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
